Today is Summer Solstice!

I have a confession to make, I recycle.

Including blog topics and posts occasionally when I am not feeling all that I have hashed together previous Summer Solstice posts for you to read today. I still like the pics for sure, and the data is still true - so a rehash isn't the worst thing to do. I even threw in a few new pics for you to goggle at!

Summer Solstice - the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere - considered the day when the Sun reaches its highest point in sky because the Earth's tilt on its axis is inclined the most towards the Sun. In reality, depending on where you are on our wonderful globe, you might not get a super longest day today or tomorrow...but it will be close.

Traditionally a day and night of celebrating occurs on Summer Solstice - parties and summer tree decorating in the daytime, bonfires in the evening, couples hand-fasting, sun worship rituals and lots of fun things like sex and drinking and fertility rites to encourage a big harvest - you know - stuff that people get up to when they want to have a good time :-) !

In observance of this wonderful holy day, I bring you a few pictures of men doin' what they oughtta on Summer Solstice - getting some Sun...

Did you know most major religions, even today, have some sort of observance of Solstice rites?

Even Catholics - those staid and stuffy party poopers co-opted this day (like every holiday they could wrap a cassock around) and it became the Feast of St. John the Baptist - offset as usual by a few days in a failed attempt to seem like it wasn't a pale imitation of a fun pagan party.

St. John is rather obvious though - unlike other saints, his feast day is set for the day of his birth, not death, mysteriously similar to that Zombie Jeebus guy whose birthday is offset by a few days from Winter is funny to me how such obvious co-opting was a successful tool in creating one of the worlds largest and still strong con games religions...

It's horribly crass of me to say so, not that it will stop me, but if it weren't for the bloody neck bits I would have thought the artist was rendering St. John's o-face...

Back to brighter topics...

Men in the Sun!

I love surfers...they have the right sort of attitude for a party day.

Remember - for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere today is a looooooong day... but eventually,
Summer Solstice will come to an end...

When the daylight is fading it is time to light our bonfires, (or our fireplaces if we are urbanites), celebrate with sex, wine and fun times...

Tonight would be a great night to harvest mistletoe and mid-summer herbs like rosemary, basil, thyme, sage.

Remember as you go to bed to kiss the one you love if he is near...

And last but not least - remember that in six short months we get to celebrate Winter Solstice! Another favorite of mine :-P

Humpday blues...

Happy Humpday folks.

I realize it has been awhile since I posted, but I am still here.

Things have gotten tough in all aspects of my life lately. My marriage is going through severe changes (still), my professional life mostly sucks (still), one of my kitties died (omg I am sad).

About the only thing I can say is REALLY good right now is my commitment to losing weight is on track. I have lost 26lbs so far! Another 50 and I won't mind showing selfies lol.

I hope you are having a great Wednesday out there in the interwebs!
